PID Close Loop Controller
The fundamental concept of PID (Proportional, Integrative, Derivative) function that embedded on most controller is how the controller could adjust the Measurement Value (MV) for actuator (control valve, inverter/motor speed drive, boiler, etc) so that difference between actual Process Value (PV) and Set Point (SP) could small enough close to zero. When the difference between PV and SP very high, the PID will adjust the actuator with few second so that PV could reach the SP value quickly. But when the difference is small, the PID will give smooth respons so that the changing PV on around SP value slowly.
On these articles, you will find two water pumps that working together and alternately so that the actual pressure could reach the Set Point pressure on all of process running. There are two methods how to control the rotational speed of water pump, which are manual and auto. Manual method will give direct control of rotational speed of water pump by inserting a rpm value. Auto method is PID controller that will give MV to speed control drive when there is difference between PV and SP.
